So here's the Theory.....
Pets are fun...
but you gotta maintain them (food, water, cleanup, repeat)
it sucks when you have to go to work and maintain your pet.
what if.... I got so many pets that i could sell them and not have to go to work.
how long would it take me to maintain enough "pets" (livestock) to not have to go to work?
i hate my job.... uh correction I hated my job. i got rid of that ugly mess two months ago.
in the mean time i spend two hours each morning maintaining my animals then do whatever else the rest of the day. Granted i haven't gotten to the point of being able to support myself but, I think i am on my way. so i have decided to publicly document the process in case it works and can pry some other poor schmuck out of a beast of job. so far i am working on raising Tilapia and Redclaw crayfish in the aquaculture system which i intend on turning into an aquaponic system soon. I also have chickens, ducks, quail, rabbits, dogs, and cats.
This theory is a plan to destroy the pain of a crappy job. This theory is also what most would call a FARM!
All of my preconceived notions of what a farm is have been tested and i am still not sure if they are well founded or not. The general feeling i got growing up about farming is that its hard work, that is boring drudgery. sounds like that crappy job i had. I think its fun. so here we go.
The Goal.....
To spend three to five hours a day on the farm to pay for my housing, pets, food, and income, then spend the rest of the day doing whatever i want. I have read that cavemen spent only about two hours a day on gathering food and spent the rest of the day hanging out. Why can't we get closer to that work day. people usually tell me that i could do that if i wanted the caveman's standard of living. I don't buy that. why do we have to work 60 to 70 hour weeks for this standard of living. Tv's and toasters aren't worth that. I suppose i could go be homeless, but i think farming would be more fun plus i might still be able to have a pretty good standard of living. If i can figure this out it will be the pry bar thousands of people need to tell get them out of their rut slash rat race hell of an existence called (insert crappy job here).
Now i gotta figure it out...
Stay tuned
Eric
